Power to...Regret Nothing?

I'd drawn a literal version of the Tatoba combo as purely a joke and it was supposed to stay that way but...I didn't anticipate falling in love with my own design.  So I wanted to draw him more, gave him a personality, and wanted to draw him under the influence of the Putotyra medals.

I also uploaded progress shots of this months ago but didn't finish this until recently (a few weeks ago).  Most of my digital paintings take forever but I didn't mean for it to take so long.  Class work got in the way of me finishing this before halloween so I could use it for an icon  I can use it for an icon this Halloween though.

Mostly practice for 1) drawing a bird's beak from a front view, 2) semi-realism (drawing something "realistically" but not going all out on texture like I usually do, 3) drawing a semi-realistic literal Tatoba, and 4) lighting/shading.  While I like doing realistic work, I think I prefer this way of painting it more.  Mostly because it's more time efficient and it doesn't wear my hand out as much.

The eyes turned out more pink than purple but the effect still works just as well.

I don't know if I'll draw him under Putotyra's influence again.  I like him much better as a happy character.  Yeah, he's a joke character and thus technically "not mine", but I still gave him a personality and everything for fun.  And I made him happy, optimistic, and a bit "derpy" (for lack of a better word).  So for the most part he'll stay that way.

Nyan Cat WIP 1

Okay...while I did put a bit more color on this after I did this tiny bit, I didn't feel like saving another WIP so I just left it at this.

While I doubt I'll finish it in time for Attack of the Show's art contest, I needed an excuse to draw Nyan Cat. Just because. It's not my favorite meme, but it's a cute character. And an interesting one to try to make semi-realistic. Cat with a pop-tart body? Sure...I'll try it out. So just got a little bit of the colors marked out and of course that trademark rainbow. Can't have Nyan Cat without the rainbow, you know?

"Promotional Art" for my class' animation project. You know...other than a few potential touch ups I'd want to do with the beasts teeth or the butterfly's body, I'm kinda happy with this. I'll do those touch ups later though. I'm pretty much finished with this for right now. When it comes time to make a finished poster for this, then I'll add in all the other touch ups as well as the movie's title.

The title "Suri Umech" (which is supposedly the title of our project) means something like "to shed one's skin" if I'm remembering it right.

Considering this is just promotional art for our project, I'm pretty sure it's safe to upload it.

Group of WIPs

Just a few pictures I've had sitting on my computer for a while that I'm working on:

1) Vulpix Portrait

I see Vulpix either based on a Fennec Fox or a small Red Fox. This one's Fennec based and I wanted to play around with it's markings a bit so I gave it a nice face mask. But I left the colors the same so it will be recognizable as Vulpix.

2) D-Techno

This one's been sitting on my laptop for a while. I want to finish it up soon because I'm rather happy with how it's turning out. D-Techno's my blue mutt character (probably a husky mix) that I created off the song D-TechnoLife by UVERworld. Usually I draw her looking more canine, but I wanted to give her a more human-ish look here. That water gave me the most trouble. Sky gave me the second most amount of trouble. Just because the fur isn't done yet doesn't mean I had too much trouble with it...I just take forever to color fur.

3) Baby Vulpix

I haven't worked on this one in a long time either. I think I know what I want to do with the background and how I'm going to do the eyes. I gave this one a more Red Fox look as opposed to the portrait. I really like how the fur's coming along, but I am still a little stuck with what to do with the rest of it.

4) Buck Portrait

Nowhere near done with this one. Buck was definitely my favorite character in Ice Age 3 and I just had to attempt a more realistic take on him.
