Sombra Fursuit WIP- Foam base finished

Got all the foam work done for my Sombra fursuit. Everything's basically perfect. I trimmed the ears down a bit from these pictures. Might have to trim down one ear tip a little bit more and smooth out the foam for the division between the eyes. But pretty much this is ready for furring. Don't know how I'm gonna do her nose just yet. I'll figure it out eventually. I'm just happy this works right. The jaw movement is pretty much perfect. I can see out it (that's a...pretty important detail...still wish I could wear my glasses under this though). I wanna make a little video maybe showing the jaw movement.

Anyways, next step for this would be to buy the three colors I need and some mesh for the eyes. Found the perfect shade of red for her main fur and I just need to order that from CR's Craft's site.

Majin Badge Walkthrough

Just a little walkthrough showing how I shaded a badge. I tested out a style of shading I haven't practiced in a year or two, but I thought the style would suit the badge rather well.

The character depicted is Majin copyrighted to BlueWolfCheetah on Deviantart. Art is mine though.



Just the base colors. Nothing really drastic or interesting as of yet. Typically I put the base colors of all the markings and such on the same layer, but this time I separated them out in order to do the sort of shading I wanted to.



Lighting is my weakness so I blocked out the direction the lighting is going to be coming from.



Working on the shading. I'm doing it gradient style. Used to be really popular and now that I can actually figure out the style, it's sort of fallen out of popularity a little bit. Shame...it is a beautiful style.



And shading all done. Basically the shading is done on layers of the colors/markings done. Not nearly as much room for mistakes as opposed to if I put the shading on a separate layer from the colors. However to get the right colors to blend together, putting them on the same layer works rather well. If you want to see how it's done, Kuitsuku's tutorial shows it really well: .



Add the background, backlighting, and shine. Had to change the background color so I could clearly see the glowing off the moon and stars so I could go back and tweek them later. Background's just a simple sky. Take two shades of blue. Use the gradient tool and add small stars (put the stars on a separate layer though). The stylized moon and stars...I put a lighter color inside and on a separate layer the glow is the same color as the "inner glow". Use an airbrush on low opacity to get the glow effect.



Eyes are always the last thing I color. Usually I go more detailed than this, but this is a bit more simplified version. The glass in her glasses was the very last detail one. It's a pale blue with a layer of white gradient shine over it. Bother layers are lowered in opacity to give the illusion of glass.

This is more of a walkthrough than a tutorial. However if you have any questions about the process, don't hesitate to ask. Most of this can possibly be covered in Kuitsuku's tutorial however.

Sombra Fursuit WIP- Mask Construction

There still has to be a good amount of work done on the foam alone before I can start putting fur on her. Especially with the ears and I have to do some tweaking around the eyes. At least making sure the shape of the eyes are nice and toony.

Hoping to have the partial suit done by time for Midwest FurFest this year. Right now my Excalibur cosplay is the first priority. I need to start putting the fleece on the head. I at least want to finish the head before this break is over with.

Say Love ~Sketch~

Fan art of the music video "Lollipop" by Mika. It has this sort of Little Red Riding Hood story behind it (the video that is). So wanted to play around with drawing the wolf in the video. In it it's this big black mass with green eyes. No real definition to it, but I wanted to give it a semi-realistic style while still maintaining a bit of the style of the way it looks in the video (IE: shape of the muzzle and eye and expression).

Coloring it up in Photoshop CS. Might take some screenshots of it and upload a few here later on.

Sombra Fursuit Sketches

Planning on making a partial fursuit of my fursona, Sombra. I don't want to jump into making a full suit right away so I just want to make a head, hand-paws, tail, and digitigrade legs and then I'll just wear regular clothes. I think I'll just start this over the Christmas break. I'll get more foam, a balaclava, and some elastic so I can at least form the base of it. It'll be my first try with a working jaw, second try making a fursuit head, but it'll be fun.

I sketched out an idea for a corded poodle suit, but I'll scan that in later.

Model Sheets

Haven't really drawn model sheets before, but I had to for class so...this is what I ended up with:

1) Sombra
~Breed: Alaskan Malamute/Finnish Spitz
~Age: 2.5
~Gender: Female
~Personality/Temperament: Given her status as my fursona, it's whatever I'm feeling on any given day.

2) Heaven's Gatekeeper
~Breed: Ibizan Hound (Wirehaired Variety)
~Age: ???
~Gender: Male
~Personality/Temperament: Regal, Kind disposition. Can come across as stuck up at times. Does his best to show goodness and kindness to others.
~Alt. Details: The collar around his neck is his halo. Can be depicted with or without wings (for the purpose of this project though I don't think he needs wings though I might draw him with them later on).

I could go into more detail with Sombra, but it's a little unnecessary. As for the Gatekeeper, since he's more of a one shot character specifically for this project, he's not too developed as a character. Though I might draw him more because you don't see too many people drawing Ibizan Hounds, let alone the wire coated variety...

Excalibur Cosplay WIP

So this is my first attempt at making a cosplay outfit on my own. I made one of Yoh Asakura from Shaman King (or rather attempted to), however I made it in a sewing class and the teacher made most of it.

For anyone who isn't familiar with Excalibur, he's a strange, annoying character from Soul Eater. No one knows what he is but the he takes on the form of a weapon. Just guess which one that is...okay...it's blatantly obvious that he changes to the legendary sword Excalibur. But for his regular form he's some weird penguin, anteater, anthro...thing.

In order to really make this look like him though, I have to buy some fleece and make a top hat. ^^; I want to finish the head at least over Christmas break.
